Therefore, they would be familiar with common problems students usually have when learning a new language and are good at integrating Chinese culture and daily life into their lessons. Our teachers all obtain Master degree or above in linguistics

Language & Culture Courses

Our courses cover from absolute beginners through to highly advanced learners, from survival to work or even professional level. Our training is interactive, “hands-on” and practical. We focus on what is relevant to social practice by stimulating situations so that you can experience the language as you would in real life. The teaching will incorporate a task based approach with the assistance of excellent facilities at XJTLU & HET.

Short-term Program

Four-week Class & Eight-week Class

You will have two choices for short term program, namely four-week class and eight week class. Both offer Mandarin courses in the morning and cultural courses or activities (eg. Chinese movie appreciation, Chinese painting, Calligraphy, Kung Fu and Taiji, etc) in the afternoon. Once a week, we will have a field trip within the city to Suzhou’s cultural places and heritage sites such as Suzhou Museum, Suzhou Silk Museum, classical gardens and Tiger Hill. On weekends, we will organize longer sightseeing excursions to several towns and cities around Suzhou, including Zhouzhuang, Xitang (traditional southern Watertown) and Hangzhou.

Long-term Program

There are three levels for long-term Chinese program, namely elementary, intermediate and advanced level. The length of the course is designed as one semester or one academic year long, with 14 and 28 weeks of teaching respectively.

Students will have to sit for two tests each semester: midterm and final test. The midterm test is arranged at the 7th week of each semester and the final test is on the 15th week. The final score is a combined result of regular on-class test score, midterm test score and final test score, with the proportion of 1:2:7.

By doing the long-term Chinese learning program, you will get a deep insight into the Chinese language and culture, in addition to the competitive communication skills in Chinese. Our long-term program provides you with an ideal outlet to further study or research in a Chinese context.
