Biography:
Start date at XJTLU: August 2008
After a long career as a UK university academic in the field of Russian language and literature, Peter Doyle changed direction and took a Diploma in TESOL in 1998. He then taught general and business English in Spain, before returning to the University of Manchester, where for several years until June 2008 he was a full-time Senior Tutor in the University Language Centre. As well as teaching general English at various levels, he gained extensive experience of teaching all aspects of EAP (English for Academic Purposes) on pre-sessional, in-sessional, and specialised postgraduate courses, working with undergraduate and postgraduate students from all over the world, including many from China. His interest in EAP syllabus and materials development led to the publication of a co-authored University Writing Course, and the creation of a self-access on-line Writing course for international postgraduates in Humanities.
At XJTLU Peter Doyle is working with first-year students in the Business stream and is one of four first-year Team Leaders.
