MITS workshop: MATLAB Software

Events

To support teaching and learning, the Management Information Technology and System office at XJTLU is providing training and workshops on a range of software. Sessions are an opportunity for participants to enhance personal skill and get more practice on education software.

Speakers:

Dan Owen
Mathworks Industry Manager for Financial Applications in APAC
Dan is based in Singapore and has over 15 years’ experience in MATLAB usage for financial applications, having previously worked at MathWorks UK in consulting and as Pan European pre-sales engineer for financial applications. He also has an industry background from time working on Statistical Arbitrage Strategies at Dresdner Kleinwort, Asset Allocation models in Fidelity Investments and Commodity also trading in a small firm in Singapore.

Zhuo Jinwu
Application Engineer of Mathworks China
Jinwu has 10 years’ experience in scientific computing, quantitative optimisation, data mining, and mathematical contest in modelling. He has achieved first prize in CUMCM three times.

The sessions will cover:

  • Introduction to MATLAB for computational finance
  • Using MATLAB for asset allocation and stock selection
  • Using MATLAB to speed up academic research
  • Statistics and optimisation techniques in MATLAB
