As part of their degree coursework, final year architecture student Jiang Hao and a small team of students from XJTLU's Department of Architecture have completed a documentary that will be shown at XJTLU.
'Edge Town ( 车坊 )' tells the story of the social changes taking place on the fringes of Suzhou. It features interviews with a range of people living on the edge of the city's urban development to find out what memories remain and what thoughts they have for the future.
It has been entered for the Cheap Cuts Documentary Film Festival and the London International Film Festival in London in 2017.
The event starts with an introduction from the film-maker and will be followed by a round-table debate to talk about the film and urban and cultural change.
"The team, especially Hao, the film-maker, has created a valuable piece of work," Austin Williams, associate professor at XJTLU and executive director of the documentary.
