Comb Makerspace Lectures: Win in 2017: New Trends of BIM Development

BIM (Building Information Modeling) is not only the hottest topic about high-tech innovation in construction industry, but the focus of digital intelligent development and subversive technology revolution in the future. Mr Jun Yi, the vice minister of MoHURD (Ministry of Housing and Urban Rural Development), highlighted that: the one who can master BIM technology will win the future. In 2017, China will appear a wave on the large-scale application of BIM. Those will boost the wide application of BIM and then come to a new era. The main drivers are the great attention from the central government, Local Authorities’ compulsory implementation policies, and BIM technology development become mature and stable. Moreover, the further reason is the extensive demands on construction within the region of the Yangtze River Delta, and so on.

Based on the research achievements and advantages of localisation and internationalisation, Xi’an Jiaotong Liverpool University is to launch Comb Makerspace Lecture series in 2017. Experts and professionals in BIM industry will be invited to analyse the new development trends of BIM in China and abroad, to promote the win-win cooperation between government, companies and colleges on the basis of complementary advantages, and to discuss the promoting strategies about construction and education in BIM field.
