Background

Higher education is facing unprecedented opportunities and challenges such as globalization, knowledge-based economy, and disruptive technologies. The Double First-rate promulgated in 2017 which accelerated national higher education reform proposed that talent cultivation should be the fundamental mission of education. Moreover, students' growth and development should become the starting point of all the work in university education. "Student-centered" learning and teaching reform is undertaking in many universities in China. However, student-centered not only depends on teachers, but also rely on the joint effort of various departments in the whole university management system in which learning and teaching support staff plays an important role in terms of planning, coordinating, and quality assurance.

Therefore, how to respond to the challenges that universities are facing and how for learning and teaching support transform from administration-centered to service and support oriented, and improve professional capabilities are becoming urgent problems for us to solve.

Programme Objectives

Institute of Leadership and Education Advanced Development (ILEAD) will organize Learning and Teaching Support training program based on Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University’s exploration of integrating Eastern and Western educational resources and wisdom aiming to:

  • Deepen the understanding of student centered education philosophy
  • Transform from administration centered to service and support oriented through discussion of university management system and techniques, student-involved academic governance
  • Improve professional capabilities in terms of planning, coordinating, quality assurance, and faculty development
