Research Symposium: Building Resilient Environments

Events

Climate change, demographic growth, fast urbanisation, migrations and natural disasters will pose unprecedented risks and challenges in the forthcoming century. Our societies in general, and the built environment in particular, will therefore need to adapt themselves to new and more dynamic conditions, increasing their resilience, the ability to cope with both expected and unforeseen societal and environmental modifications.

To tackles these issues, Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, China, University of Liverpool and Tsinghua University are organizing an international symposium on Building Resilient Environments. This symposium will take place on 19 October 2018 and will be held at the International Academic Exchange Centre, Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, Suzhou, China. The symposium will discuss how architecture, urban planning and design and economy can contribute towards the achievement of a resilient built environment.
