Overview

China’s economic growth has coincided with processes of globalisation over the past three decades. As this growth continues there will be a need for more specialised understanding of the country’s growing socio-economic interactions with the rest of the world. This degree programme aims to deepen such knowledge and understanding, and to produce the entrepreneurial and managerial leaders of the future who will bring China to the world and the world to China.

Knowledge and skills

By the time you graduate from BA International Relations, you will have:

  • language skills: English, Chinese. Spanish or Japanese will be studied as additional languages if the required standard is reached in both Chinese and English.
  • knowledge of other countries and societies through both study, and lived experience in a country of specialisation
  • specialist knowledge of China’s interactions with other parts of the world, other countries’ involvement in China, and world structures of business, trade, and investment.

Careers

Occupations related to China’s international socio-economic interactions, both in China and in other countries of the world. This may involve government-related work but is more likely to involve business and trade relations, and international social mobility.
