International Education Collaboration and Exchange Colloquium

On April 30th, the International Education Collaboration and Exchange Colloquium of Jiangsu Province was held at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) with the honorable Vice Governor of Jiangsu, Mr. Weixing Cao in attendance.

The colloquium focused on the promotion and development of international education collaboration and exchange work as well as the modernisation and internationalisation of education across Jiangsu. Executive President of XJTLU, Professor Youmin Xi delivered a speech entitled “Running a Sino-Foreign Cooperative University” where he introduced the exploration and development of internationalisation made by XJTLU.

XJTLU has set the goal to cultivate high-level international talents and generate a series of comprehensive education ideas and theories. These are inspired by modern management ideas and structures built upon a network of organisations, and an open campus environment with an advanced university culture.

XJTLU focuses its efforts in integrating international resources and achieving a harmonious environment for staff and students. The University is actively recruiting international students and elevating XJTLU’s brand value on a global stage, enhancing the international diversity of the University. XJTLU prides itself on its high-quality teaching and learning alongside its excellent student body.

Professor Xi said “XJTLU will continue to take the responsibility of exploring approaches to the internationalisation and modernisation of universities in China and aims to build XJTLU as a research-led, unique and globally-recognised Chinese university and an international University in China.”

In the second session of the colloquium, distinguished guests from Duke Kunshan University, Soochow University, Nanjing University of Technology, Nanjing University, Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine, and Yangzhou University introduced the development of education internationalisation in each institution and offered some advice to each other. Afterwards, representative officers from the Provincial government made a commitment to offer consistent support in the future.

Finally, Vice Governor of Jiangsu Province, Mr. Weixing Cao emphasised that education international cooperation and exchange should focus on achieving the overall requirements of the provincial educational modernisation target system once the education quality reaches the average among developed countries, and achieves an international advanced level.

Mr. Weixing Cao urged e delegates to adhere to an international vision of aiming for cutting-edge world education reform and allocating resources on a global scale while localising ideas to university practice. He asked each institution to: selectively import advanced education ideas; work on constructing a good environment for international collaboration and exchange; enhance leadership and management capabilities, ensure service quality and to effectively promote the opening up of education in the Province.
