Civil Engineering Students Participated in the 1st Women in Construction Workshop

The Decision Support, Information Modeling, and Automation Laboratory (DESIMAL) in the Department of Civil, Environmental, and Construction Engineering (CECE) at the University of Central Florida (UCF) in conjunction with the Engineering Information Foundation (EiF) held the 1st Women in Construction Workshop (WCW) in Orlando, FL, USA in July 2015. This workshop is held by the partnership of the University of Campinas in Brazil and the Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University. Four female students from the Department of Civil Engineering participated in the workshop with a fully funded travel grant due to their excellent academic achievement and enthusiasm in working in Civil Engineering domain.

Many brilliant female speakers (came from Canada, Miami, Turkey, Enterprise in U.S, University of Central Florida(UCF), and so on) were invited to this workshop, and they shared their experiences, life-style, academic achievements, and positive attitude with the students. Also, panel discussions were arranged with the speakers.

The students got a significant way to communicate with women working in the construction area. The four Chinese girls were invited to bring a presentation about their hometown and our university, the audience showed a great interest in it.

At the end of the workshop, each of the speaker and participate was awarded the certificate and the trophy.
