Business and industry

We seek to exploit our discoveries, internationally competitive research and academic expertise for the public benefit and work with a range of external partners to investigate potential for commersialisation.

Research

XJTLU recognises the value of both fundamental and applied research and takes care to support both. In many cases, however, its internationally competitive research and academic expertise have commercial potential. Consequently, the University works with funders, collaborators, licensees and investors to exploit its discoveries for public benefit. The exploitation mechanisms used may include research partnerships and sponsored studentships as well as technology licensing and, where appropriate, the formation of spin-out companies and other joint ventures.

The University also contributes to business and industry in other ways. It offers expertise and reliable sources of information, such as via its consultancy services, provides access to research platforms and advanced instrumentation, and produces well-trained graduates with the capacity to work in a range of settings.
