Students to present paper at IEEE International Conference
(XJTLU, China – 1st February, 2010) The IEEE 2010 International Conference on Biomedical Engineering and Computer Science(ICBECS)will include academic dissertations by three 4th year students.
Hang Jianwei, Communication Engineering, and Wang Zhao and Qian Rongqiang, Micro-electronics, jointly edited the paper titled Inverse projection of the wireless capsule endoscopy images , concerning improvement of wireless endoscope technology. They are under the guidance of Dr. Tammam Tillo and Dr. EngGee Lim, Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
In contrast to conventional push-style endoscope, wireless endoscope technology is capable of capturing the holistic image of the alimentary tract, which is of great significance in the field of medicine. The current wireless endoscope technology is problematic due to inhibited movement inside the alimentary tract and deficiency in image processing, diagnostic precision and operation time.
The students focused on developing an image post-processing system which is designed to recover the images in a holistic style through the analysis of the fraction pictures captured by the capsule endoscope, thus facilitating pathological diagnosis by avoiding complex comparisons of a mass of pictures.
The ICBECS 2010, to be held between the 23rd and 25th of April, will center on the technology and research concerning biomedical image processing and image quality evaluation, bioinformatics and bioengineering. All dissertations were stringently screened by IEEE, with exceptional papers to be indexed by SCI, the majority of which are edited by postgraduates and doctoral students in the relevant fields.
The paper was indexed directly by IEEE, which manifests the strong teaching strength, quality teaching and the unique educational model of XJTLU. It was also indexed by Ei Compendex and ISTP.
