主题

现代土木工程发展:绿色、韧性和智慧

讲座介绍

Civil Engineering is entering a modern era where it has to tackle more challenges and meet higher demands. Climate change, resource depletion, extreme events, and technology revolution all present unprecedented challenges to engineering community. This talk will introduce the recent work our research team is undertaking and show how we attempt to respond to such challenges.

主讲人

Professor Jian Yang
Deputy Head of Civil Engineering, SJTU

Dr Jian Yang, Deputy Head and Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU), has over 15 years of experience of teaching, research and consultancy at various universities across the world. He is a Fellow of Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) and a chartered member of the Institution of Structural Engineers (MIStructE). He serves on several international and national professional committees, including IStructE, ICE and Chinese Ceramic Society. He sits on the editorial boards for 4 international peer reviewed journals. In his present role, he is leading a team of 30 researchers primarily focusing on the research in the field of sustainable construction encompassing the recycled and newly emerging construction materials, novel construction methods (off-site construction), building facades and smart construction. He is the PI of over 10 grants totaling 10M RMB and has published over 100 peer reviewed journal and conference papers.

讲座二

主题

FRP加固钢筋混凝土结构剥离破坏的有限元分析

讲座介绍

Debonding failure is a typically failure mode in an RC structure strengthened with fiber- reinforced-polymer (FRP). Accurate prediction of the debonding is one of the most significant issues in studying the FRP-strengthened RC structures. In this talk, key issues in finite element (FE) analysis of the debonding failure will be reviewed. An advanced FE model proposed by the authors’ research group will be introduced. A salient feature of the proposed FE model is that the debonding failure and concrete cracking are treated as a dynamic problem and solved using an appropriate time integration method. Numerical results will be presented to show that the dynamic approach effectively overcomes the convergence problem and is capable of providing accurate prediction on the full-range debonding failure process of the FRP-strengthened structures.

Professor Guangming Chen
School of Civil Engineering and Transportation, SCUT

Dr Guangming Chen, obtained his first and master degrees both from Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST), and a PhD from Hong Kong Polytechnic University, under the supervision of Prof. Jin-Guang Teng. He is currently a Professor and Doctoral Supervisor in School of Civil Engineering and Transportation at South China University of Technology (SCUT). Before taking the current role, he was a Professor in Guangdong University of Technology (GDUT). He also worked in UC Berkeley as a one-year Visiting Scholar. Prof. Chen has been the PIs for three NSFC projects, including one young scholar project and two general projects. He is now a council member of the International Institute of FRP in Construction (IIFC). His main research areas focus on use of fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) in civil engineering (structural strengthening and new structures) and reuse of recycled aggregate concrete in civil engineering. He has published over 60 journal papers, including 35 SCI journal papers, in addition to over 20 international conference papers, with an H-index of 13 in Web of Science.
