Professor Li-Chuan Evelyn Mai is Associate Dean of the Academy of Film and Creative Technology, Dean of the School of Film and TV Arts and Associate Dean of the School of Cultural Technology. She leads the strategic development of the schools.
Professor Mai obtained her PhD from the School of Media, Arts and Design, University of Westminster. Currently she serves as the Dean of the School of Film and TV Arts, Associate Dean of School of Cultural Technology. She holds posts as a doctoral supervisor, Council Member of the Experimental Teaching Committee of Chinese Collegial Association for Visual Arts, and Vice-President of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge and Urban Development Research Association.
Before Professor Mai joined XJTLU, she worked for Beijing Normal University-Hong Kong Baptist University United International College (UIC), serving as the Associate Dean of the Division of Humanities and Social Sciences from September 2011 to August 2016, and as the Programme Director of Cinema and Television from 2011 to 2020. Professor Mai was appointed as the Dean of Zhuhai Innovative Cultural Creative Industry Research Institute from 2016 to 2020. Her main research area is media and cultural industry management.
Professor Mai started her education career from 1987 at Ming Chuan University in Taipei, China's Taiwan. She mainly focuses on media management and cultural industry management. From 2003 to 2006, she was the Founding Executive Deputy Dean of School of Communication at Beijing Normal University Zhuhai Campus. From 2006 to 2009, Professor Mai was appointed as the Deputy Dean of the School of Arts and Communication of Beijing Normal University Zhuhai Campus, and the Deputy Dean of the International Faculty from 2008 to 2009. She was the PhD supervisor of the University of Portsmouth, a distinguished researcher at Southern Media Group, China, Organizer of the Committee of the International Media Management Association (IMMAA), Editorial Board of the International Journal of Media Management, and Executive Chairman of the 7th World Media Economics Conference 2006. She held the position of the external examiner of the University of Wales from 2008 to 2013.
