The translation and interpreting strand is designed to address the increasing demand for language and translation professionals and to prepare students to study the MA Translation Studies programme. Students gain a comprehensive understanding of the linguistic, sociocultural, technological and professional issues of translation, acquire translation and bilingual communication skills, and are trained to perform real-life translation tasks with/without the help of computer-aided translation tools, such as SDL Trados.
Our MA Mass Media Translation programme, the first masters degree programme of its kind in Mainland China, offers students the opportunity to specialise in media translation, which has seen unprecedented expansion in recent years.
Through the study of interpreting, students have the opportunity to gain essential skills and competence in liaison interpreting, consecutive interpreting and simultaneous interpreting. They are trained by means of authentic and up-to-date materials, with a focus on skills and specific content domains. They also receive training in a state-of-the-art simultaneous interpreting laboratory.
