Sino-German Conference on High Performance Computing and Virtual Reality for Future Cities

In recent years, urbanisation and technological development in China has increased rapidly - today more than 50 percent of the total population lives in urban areas.

This workshop will focus on the potential of simulations, virtual reality and augmented reality for urban planning and is one of three taking place in China and Thailand as part of a series of 'travelling conferences' (PDF). The initial idea for the event came from an ongoing German research project 'Field Lab City Quarter 4.0' that addresses the question of how digital tools, new planning methods, and the local expertise of citizens can support a sustainable urban development. A team of researchers from the University of Stuttgart, the RheinMain University Wiesbaden and the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Engineering Stuttgart, Germany, will take part in the workshop.
