Born in Beijing in 1967, WANG Hui graduated in architecture at Tsinghua University in 1993 and took a master’s degree at Miami University in 1997. In 1999, with partners LIU Xiaodu and MENG Yan he founded URBANUS in Beijing and Shenzhen. Since 2003, he has been running the Beijing Office. He taught at the Architecture School of Tsinghua University and at the ADA research centre of Beijing University. Recent projects include the regeneration project of the Five Dragons Temple in Ruicheng City (2016), causing a heated discussion of the protection and regeneration of cultural relics, the renewal of Pudong cement factory in Shanghai (2016), the rehabilitation of the thermal power plant Beijing No. 2 in Beijing (2016), Little Ant Shadow Play Theatre in Beijing (2014), and the renovation project for Now Factory, an office park in Jading, Shanghai (2014). He is a member of the council of the Architectural Society of China, and he served as one of the members at the editorial board for The Journal of Architecture and other major academic journals.
