I first enrolled at XJTLU as an undergraduate to study chemistry. I hadn’t really thought much about all the different study programmes available or made a clear plan for my future. I did pretty well in my first year but when I started Year Two I couldn’t stop asking myself: “What am I doing? Why am I studying chemistry?”
I met an alumnus, a marketing graduate who was working at Unilever as a management trainee. That night, when I got back home I searched on the University website to find out what other options I had.
I finally realised what I wanted to do, so at midnight I called up my Dad to tell him I wanted to study marketing instead. He said to me: “Have you thought it through? If you have, then you can do it.”
