Professor Dechang Xu

Following an undergraduate degree in Soil and Agriculture Chemistry, he pursued postgraduate studies in Human and Machine Environment Engineering at Harbin Institute of Technology, and in Botany at the North East Agriculture University. Subsequently, he finished a postdoctoral research at Carnegie-Mellon University. Before joining XJTLU, he was the professor and deputy director of the School of Food Science and Engineering, Harbin Institute of Technology, director of National Beet and Sugar Institute, funding editor-in-chief and deputy editor-in-chief of China Journal of Bioinformatics.

In 2015, he received the award Outstanding Science and Education Talent from the Dushu Lake Science and Education Innovation District, Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP), Suzhou.

Associate Professor Theodoros Dounas

Co-Director of International Innovation Hub

Theodoros Dounas is an award-winning chartered architect and academic, investigating in computation and fabrication in architecture and design, with practice experience in complex buildings of all scales. He brings this experience in the International Innovation Hub as co-director of its activities. His focus is on building the infrastructure of the Hub in the incubator and FabLab. He is also currently associate professor in the Department of Architecture at Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University in Suzhou, China. He is a founding member of the department and lead it as Head of Department in the years 2013-2014, during which the department achieved the Chinese degree awarding powers from the Ministry of Education and RIBA part I international for the BEng Architecture.

Theodoros has been teaching in architecture schools and colleges in Europe and China for 10 years and has experience with basic and applied research in architectural design. His design and research work has been published internationally and he has received awards for his teaching, research and architectural design practice. His main research deals with computer generative tools and methods in architectural design. Before XJTLU, Theo worked in the TOSMI, a MEDIA educational programme of the EU commission, at University of Thessaly teaching animation and virtual reality in architecture and in his own practice in Greece where he completed more than 60 architectural studies and competitions.
