Research

The Internet of Things (IoT) is a combination of Information Technologies (IT) and intelligent interfaces aiming to enable different types of automatic interaction between physical objects. Essentially, IoT is an integration between the physical world, computing devices, AI systems and human intervention, which enhances performance, efficiency and provides excellent economic benefits. IoT is evolving regularly having become ubiquitous (similarly to semiconductors, chips, or programmes). It has become a fundamental technology in Chinese policies of high-quality development and has acquired an even more prominent role in all aspects of public and industrial smart grids and critical infrastructures.

Essentially, the School adopts an applied research approach focusing on IoT applications in public and industrial smart grids and critical infrastructures in a variety of digital transformation contexts, such as smart cities, smart industry, smart agriculture, smart home, smart healthcare, and smart transportation. Therefore, IoT research in our School centers on International trends and National priorities as well as social and industrial needs for integrative solutions combining wireless communications, networks, cloud infrastructures, sensor devices, data technologies, and related management and control platforms.

Specifically, our School is currently engaged with industry-focused research and emerging technologies, such as:

  • IoT Embedded Systems
  • IoT Vehicular Infrastructures (V2X)
  • Industrial IoT and Mechatronics
  • IoT Wireless Networking
  • AI for IoT
  • IoT Wearable Technologies
  • IoT-enabled Information Systems
  • Socio-technical Studies of IoT Use and Acceptance
  • Management and Security of IoT Systems
