Professor Genhong Cheng received his Ph.D. degree in Molecular Biology from Albert Einstein College of Medicine, New York in 1990, and continued to work there as a postdoctoral fellow (1990-1992). He then conducted research at the Rockefeller University (1992-1994) and MIT (1994-1996) with the Nobel Laureate, Professor David Baltimore. In 1996, he was appointed as an assistant professor in the Department of Microbiology, Immunology and Molecular Genetics at the University of California, Los Angeles, and subsequently as an associate professor and as a full professor. While continuing to work in UCLA, in 2012 he was also appointed as Founding Director of the Suzhou Institute of Systems Medicine, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences. Professor Cheng’s research interests include host immune and inflammatory responses to Infections, tissue injuries, cancers and metabolic challenges.
