Research Area
Advanced materials, its application and chemical biology
The Department of Chemistry applies the knowledge and skills necessary to synthesize, fabricate, characterize, and model materials across multiple length scales, including the applications of catalysts and electrocatalysts, energy capture and storage, optoelectronics and photonics, quantum information systems, sensors, low-power actuators and devices, and biological systems at the chemical level etc.

Based on advanced materials and chemical biology, the research is also focused on reaction design and methodology development and has the potential to make significant economic and social impacts in the fields of medicinal technology, drug delivery, proteomics, enzyme probes and bio-imaging tools etc.

Biomedical sciences, microbiology and bioinformatics
The Department of Biological Science is quite diverse and studies all levels of biological complexity, focusing on applications spanning from the molecular to the microscopic organisms including computational technologies used to collect, analyze and disseminate related biological data and information.

The research team aims to make significant economic and social impacts in the fields of human disease, cancer, microbiology, neuroscience, and bioinformatics based on specialized focus on the importance of molecular mechanism.

Ecology and environmental pollution
The Department of Health and Environmental Science focuses on biodiversity, community ecology, plant-herbivore interactions & urban ecology, determined to find a solution path for applications related to the emerging interface of organism, chemistry and the environment.
Current research emphasis and prowess is placed on understanding in environmental chemistry, such as environmental monitoring, studies of global environmental processes and change and the effects of chemical compounds in nature (air, water, soil, food chains and organisms).
