IMMERSIVE TECHNOPRENEURSHIP SUMMER SCHOOL 2024

Learn about the intersection of business and technology at our four-week Immersive Technopreneurship Summer School. At XJTLU Entrepreneur College (Taicang), you will experience the most advanced university campus in the most dynamic and technologically innovative economy in the world.

At this summer school, you will:

• engage in world-class technopreneurship: Dive into practical and enjoyable activities prepared by the Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Hub;
• experience Chinese society and industry first-hand: Explore a variety of industries through a blend of practical activities and real-world innovation at XJTLU Entrepreneur College (Taicang);
• collaborate globally: Work on projects alongside a diverse group of academics, technologists, and industry partners from across the globe;
• access state-of-the-art facilities: Benefit from advanced facilities at XJTLU’s Entrepreneur College (Taicang), which borders northwest Shanghai;
• explore advanced technology fields: Experience projects in AI, robotics, manufacturing, Internet of Things (IoT), and other cultural and creative technologies;
• develop key innovation skills: Enhance your abilities in creativity, design thinking, prototyping, product development, pitching, negotiation, storytelling, and more; and

Through immersive activities, games, and simulations, participants will work together to propose solutions to global issues. The programme values collaborative and interdisciplinary approaches, and recognises multiple perspectives in crafting sustainable solutions with real impact. By the end of the programme, participants will have a deeper understanding of technopreneurship and a more innovative mindset, an XJTLU Global Entrepreneurial Dream-chasers Competition submission, and the potential to thrive in the future technology-driven world.

Summer school information

The summer school shifts away from conventional teaching methods, and dedicates 75% of its agenda to hands-on activities, applied projects, and industrial or societal problem solving.

Duration

Four weeks, from 1 to 26 July 2024

Weekly themes and micro-units:

Each week features a specific theme with two, two-day micro-units, focusing on practical tasks.

Wednesdays are reserved for field trips or special events.

• Week 1 Exploration Week: Engage with the Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Hub, and explore creative innovation and industrial intelligence.
• Week 2 Innovation Week: Collaborate on projects, and participate in the Digital Startup Lab and Industrial Readiness micro-units.
• Week 3 Transformation Week: Participate in the X³ Co-Venture, a startup hub at XJTLU Entrepreneur College (Taicang), join its week-long competition sprint, and enter the XJTLU Global Entrepreneurial Dream-chasers Competition.
• Week 4 Cross-Cultural Challenges Week: Dive into challenges related to cross-cultural collaboration. Building on everything you’ve learned previously, this week offers language workshops (in English and Chinese) to support you as you enter Chinese society and put your skills to the test.

Accommodation

Accommodation needs to be paid separately. At the Immersive Technopreneurship Summer School, you will stay at our new XJTLU Entrepreneur College (Taicang) accommodation building on campus. You can choose single rooms (1,500 RMB for the whole stay), each equipped with an ensuite bathroom, wardrobe, study desk and enclosed balcony. The building is a few minutes’ walk from your sessions and has a variety of restaurants and shops nearby.

Learning Outcomes

By the time you have completed this summer school, you will have:

• entrepreneurship mastery: Harness real-life projects to develop an entrepreneurial skillset, solve real problems, and practice pitching them;
• knowledge of technology and social change: Engage with technology, such as AI, robotics, manufacturing, IoT, cultural technologies, and more, to understand societal shifts;
• collaborative innovation: Embrace diverse perspectives, risk-taking and problem-solving in dynamic situations through creative activities;
• industrial insight: Gain a comprehensive view of Chinese industries and their role on a global scale; and
• cross-cultural understanding: Test your skills in society, solve cultural, business or technological problems in the region, and present potential solutions through teamwork and newfound awareness.
