Haiyang Zhang Ph.D

Lecturer

Dr. Haiyang Zhang is a Lecturer at the Department of Computing, Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University.

She obtained her Ph.D from University of Limerick in 2018, specialising in Recommender Systems. After that, she worked as a research associate in the University of Sheffield, from 2018 to 2021.

Her current research interest centre around Natural Language Processing (NLP), in particular on applications for analysing biomedical document collections, and on detecting bias in word embeddings. She is also interested in research related to recommender systems, exploiting various kinds information that within or goes beyond the user-item rating matrix, to address the data sparsity and cold-start problems in collaborative filtering approaches.
