ProfilePenelope Scott is Associate Professor in the Department of English at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University. She has published articles in Transactions of the Philological Society, Neophilologus, and English Studies, and has contributed to various edited collections. Her research interests include health and illness in Anglo-Saxon England, Old English semantics, conceptual metaphor, and the link between cognition and culture. She is currently preparing a monograph that is a cultural linguistic history of health and illness in Anglo-Saxon England, bringing together the threads of her work on language, culture, and cognition in Old English. The work incorporates examinations of Anglo-Saxon medical texts, as well as poetry and religious texts.
