ProfileSongqing Li (PhD, NUS 2010) is a linguist with research interests in multilingualism, critical discourse analysis, English as a global language, media discourse, language & globalization, language & identity, as well as multimodality.
Songqing is keen to conduct interdisciplinary research in the areas of his interests and has published in many reputable international journals, including Applied Linguistics, English Today, Journal of Sociolinguistics, Journal of World Languages, Semiotica, among others. His monograph "Identity Constructions in Bilingual Advertising: A Critical Analysis" (Routledge, 2018) is the first book-length study of identity constructions in relation to English as a contact language in local advertising through a critical, ethnographical and interpretative lens (https://www.taylorfrancis.com/books/9780429825538). He sits on Editorial Advisory Board of Cambridge Scholars Publishing, UK.
Currently, Songqing is working on the research project centering inter-disciplinarily round language and globalization, language and identity, semiotic landscape, and translation. He is happy to supervise PhD projects related to his research interests.
