3D imaging has been a popular topic in academic research and industrial applications. In this presentation, we introduce a defocusing 3D imaging technique originally used in large scale flow visualization. With its advantages in volumetric measurement, this 3D imaging technique was extended in micro-scale flow visualization and cardiac blood flow measurement in living systems. With the aid of computer vision algorithms, the defocusing concept was further developed into a robust progressing 3D scanning technique. Implementations of this technique in industrial applications including dental scanning, gas turbine inspection, and gesture control have been demonstrated.
Professor Jian Lv got his BS degree from Tsinghua University, Msc and PhD degree from California Institute of Technology. He was as a consultant for Fjord Ventures LLC, USA, and CTO of Arges Imaging, Inc USA. He was a visiting professor of California Institute of Technology, CEO of Guangdong Langchen Medical Device and Technology Company. Since 2017, He became the director of Lab of 3D scanning and printing technologies, Guangdong Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Equipment & Technology.
