Stephen Pan

Profile

Stephen Pan is a lecturer in the Department of Health and Environmental Sciences at Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University. He is a social and behavioral epidemiologist, and holds a PhD in Population and Public Health from the University of British Columbia and Master of Science in Public Health from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Dr. Pan completed his postdoctoral training as a Fogarty Global Health Fellow with the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Pan's research focuses on policies and social and cultural processes that impact public health, particularly among minority populations. Substantive areas of research have included HIV/STI prevention, unintentional injury, and mental health. Dr. Pan has received funding support from the US National Institutes of Health, the US Fulbright Commission, the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, and the government in Taiwan. He has co-authored over 50 publications in international peer-reviewed journals such as The Lancet and Clinical Infectious Diseases. Dr. Pan has been conducting HIV prevention research in China for over ten years, and previously worked as a regional epidemiologist and HIV/STD disease intervention specialist in the United States. He teaches modules on epidemiology and public health surveillance.
