Call for Papers | The 4th International Workshop on the Chinese Development Model

Made in China 2025: Innovation and Sustainable Development

Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, International Business School Suzhou, and Ramon Llull University, IQS School of Management, will jointly host the 4th International Workshop on the Chinese Development Model on 4 July, 2025 in Suzhou, China. We sincerely welcome you to join us in Suzhou, a city that has been known in China as a ‘paradise on the earth’ since ancient times, only 24 minutes due west from Shanghai on the fastest high-speed train.

The Chinese Development Model stands as a testament to the remarkable transformation and rapid growth that China has experienced over the past few decades. This workshop will delve into the future trajectory of China’s economic evolution, exploring how it aims to strike a balance between innovation and sustainable development, the dynamic and evolving landscape of trade, and the impact of technological advancements and digital transformation. We will explore the societal and environmental dimensions of China’s development, and analyze China’s approaches to addressing global economic uncertainties and demographic shifts, offering a comprehensive perspective on both its achievements and ongoing challenges.

Paper Submission:

Please submit in the form of extended abstracts (max 2 pages) or full paper as a PDF file via the submission website (https://xjtlu.mike-x.com/HJswL). The first page of the submitted material must contain authors’ affiliations and, at least, three keywords. In the case of co-authored research, the submitter will be assumed to be the presenter, unless specified differently. One paper per person is allowed. The submission system opens on 21 January 2025.

Deadline for Extended Abstract Submission: 20 March 2025

Notification of Acceptance decision: 28 April 2025

Registration deadline: 16 May 2025

Full paper submission deadline: 30 May 2025

Workshop Dates: 4 July 2025

Best Paper Awards:

To encourage excellent research, the workshop will offer one best paper award:

  • Best paper- Prize CNY3,000 (USD 440)

To be considered for the best paper awards, the submission should be in full paper.

Registration and Fees:

Participants who wish to present a paper must register and pay the submission fee by 16 May 2025. The payment registration link will be released on 10 May 2025.

Fee for regular participants: CNY 1,500 (USD 220)

Fee for currently enrolled (PhD) students: CNY 1,000 (USD 150)

Accommodation and travel arrangements will be left to participants.
