The Category Normalized Citation Impact (CNCI) for all publications from XJTLU for 2023 is 1.55. XJTLU’s CNCI was higher than global’s and China’s CNCIs in each of the past 5 years (2019-2023), indicating that XJTLU’s outputs received more citations than the global and China’s baselines.

Under the Essential Science Indicators (ESI) schema, XJTLU has been most productive in the fields of Engineering, Computer Science and Economics& Business in 2019-2023. When taking into account the impact at the same time, Computer Science and Environment/Ecology stood out. These two field have contributed the most ESI Highly Cited Papers as well. As of March 2024, there are 4 fields for XJTLU entering the Top 1% worldwide in the ESI rankings, namely Engineering, Computer Science, Social Science (General) and Environment/Ecology.
Collaborations bring diverse expertise to tackle global problems. For researchers and their institutions, publishing collaborative works can also increase the visibility of the research. As a Sino-foreign joint venture university, XJTLU takes advantage of resources from three universities in two countries and actively publishes collaborative works. In the past five years (2019-2023), XJTLU has published 2563 publications through international collaboration.
