Discover how you can get involved in the large variety of sporting and club activities at XJTLU.
You’ll discover sports centres both on the SIP campus and at XJTLU Entrepreneur College (Taicang), in addition to numerous sports and activities available through student clubs. Furthermore, alternative sports facilities, including the Dushu Lake Gym, are available outside campus. Within SIP, XJTLU is located in the Suzhou Dushu Lake Science and Education Innovation District (SEID), surrounded by over 20 other universities and colleges. All students have access to SEID sports facilities, including football fields and tennis and badminton courts near the student accommodations.
The sports facilities at XJTLU and in the surrounding area give me the opportunity to try different activities, meet new friends and stay fit and healthy!

Fitness through variety
Sports clubs at XJTLU go beyond just playing sports; they are dedicated to enhancing your student experience. Through sports and activities, you can explore new and exciting places, develop personal skills, celebrate sporting achievements, build a community, and form friendships that last a lifetime. Additionally, you’ll have the opportunity to participate in various competitions and sports tournaments organised by our Physical Education Centre. Sports clubs offer a wealth of choices, including rowing, kickboxing, archery, golf, basketball, dodgeball, American football and soccer. [Explore the available sports clubs here]. When you participate, there is also the exciting prospect of representing the University on national and regional levels. The XJTLU sports WeChat app mini program and the webpage provide a weekly timetable of activities, ensuring you stay informed. All necessary equipment is provided, and the cost of each session is heavily subsidised.
Engage in sports clubs and beyond
XJTLU has six categories of student organisations and clubs: student committees, student unions, sports clubs, art clubs, academic clubs, social service clubs, and recreational clubs. We also have an arts centre providing students with a range of creative outlets. The approximately 200 student organisations and clubs across various categories foster a vibrant campus life at XJTLU and provide a platform for diverse interests. The arts centre and student enterprise park offer avenues for creative expression and entrepreneurial pursuits.

Beyond XJTLU, the Dushu Lake Gym in Suzhou offers comprehensive sports facilities, including those for basketball, badminton, tennis, and squash and an Olympic-sized 50 meter swimming pool. XJTLU’s prime location in Suzhou Industrial Park grants students access to Suzhou Dushu Lake Science and Education Innovation District (SEID) sports facilities, featuring football fields and numerous tennis and badminton courts. Suzhou’s natural beauty offers ideal settings for walking, cycling, and running. Popular 13 to 16 kilometre running routes provide eye-catching views around Jinji Lake. Free exercise opportunities abound in the scenic surroundings. For a more technical challenge, consider hiking or trail runs near Mudu Ancient Town in Suzhou’s southwest or cycling routes of varying lengths on the nearby Yangcheng Lake peninsula. Suzhou’s recent growth ensures well-maintained paths and roads.

The Student Organisation Support Centre orchestrates a range of events, including: Fresher’s Fair Join us annually at the Fresher’s Fair to explore numerous student clubs and organisations. It is a perfect opportunity to discover and join activities that align with your interests. Leadership Training Programme The WinX Leadership Training Programme empowers students, especially club leaders, with strategic planning, decision-making, and project management skills, enhancing their contribution to the community. Volunteer Academy Contribute to society through the Volunteer Academy, engaging in meaningful projects and receiving training to develop leadership and citizenship skills. Social Practice Programme Embrace social responsibility through team projects addressing societal issues and fostering global citizenship and personal growth.
Sports centres
XJTLU’s sports centres provide a diverse array of activities to help you achieve your fitness goals. The North Campus sports centre is equipped with outdoor basketball and tennis courts, while the South Campus features an extensive sports facility, which includes a climbing wall, archery range, running track, fitness area, and courts for basketball, badminton, tennis, squash, table tennis, golf facilities, and more. XJTLU Entrepreneur College (Taicang)’s sports centre houses a swimming pool. Facilities include basketball, badminton, and squash courts, a gymnasium, a billiards area, table tennis hall, indoor golf arena, martial arts area, fencing hall, and versatile venues like the training hall, multi-purpose sports hall, and dance studio.
In addition to sports clubs, XJTLU students can also enrol in physical education classes to learn new sports.
