Overview

The BEng Electronic Science and Technology programme offers you a thorough foundation in microelectronic engineering, electronic engineering and photonic engineering.

The programme will enable you to study the complex working processes of electronic components as well as the technology of integrated circuits design and manufacture.

You will learn to operate at the cutting-edge of emerging technologies and be prepared to work in a field with multiple career opportunities due to a worldwide shortage of graduates.

Knowledge and skills

By the time you graduate from the BEng Electronic Science and Technology programme, you will have:

  • extensive experience in modelling and analytical methods
  • the ability to design a system, component or process based on initial requirements and constraints
  • the skills to use IT tools and computer-aided design systems for modelling, analysis, simulation and design
  • the ability to design and fabricate integrated circuit chips or photonic devices.
This programme will help you to understand the micro & nanofabrication processes by using the state-of-the-art technology and facilities in cleanrooms. You will also learn design rules and design methodology for IC designs drawn on graph paper with a stipulated scale and drawn using professional IC design tools.
