On 10th January, the Practical Chinese course at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) concluded in a warm and lively atmosphere. Students from across the globe gathered together to celebrate the arrival of the Year of the Snake in a unique way, creating festive couplets and decorative paper-cuttings for the Spring Festival through traditional crafts such as calligraphy and rubbing.
During the closing ceremony, students wielded traditional calligraphy brushes to craft couplets, brimming with good wishes. They also selected intricate patterns and used creative rubbing techniques to produce exquisite paper window decorations. These activities provided participants with an immersive experience of the charm of Chinese traditional culture while fostering interaction and collaboration among them.
This closing ceremony not only marked the successful conclusion of the students’ Chinese language studies but also served as a joyous and creative cultural feast. Through such events, XJTLU offers students from around the world a platform to deeply explore and carry forward Chinese traditional culture. It allows them to appreciate the profound meaning and value of culture alongside their language studies.
