The School of Science and XJTLU are proud to share that Dr Shuihua Wang, Associate Professor in the Department of Biosciences and Bioinformatics, has been selected once again for the global 2025 “Highly Cited Researchers” list released by Clarivate in XJTLU. This marks a remarkable accomplishment as its the fifth consecutive year that Dr Wang has earned this significant recognition, highlighting her sustained global influence in artificial intelligence, biomedical data analysis and interdisciplinary research.
Clarivate’s annual Highly Cited Researchers list identifies individuals whose publications rank among the top 1% by citations in their field and year of publication within the Web of Science database. This year’s Highly Cited Researchers work across 60 countries and regions, and the list comprises 7,131 recognitions representing only 6,868 individual scientists worldwide.
Professor John Moraros, Dean of the School of Science stated “This remarkable global recognition is a positive affirmation of our strong commitment to research excellence as reflected by Dr. Wang and her research team’s accomplishments and by extension our entire School of Science. In addition to Dr Wang, our School of Science houses the extremely talented students and some of the most accomplished and globally renowned scholars at XJTLU.”
Dr Wang added “My research team engages in scholarly work that is useful and impactful to the global community, which is the core goal and purpose of our work. It reflects the dedicated efforts of our entire team and students. In the School of Science and at XJTLU, it highlights the strength of our collaborative, international environment, which fosters the interdisciplinary work needed to address complex global challenges. We see this achievement as an opportunity to further strengthen our national and international partnerships and reputation and continue contributing meaningful science to our emerging field and the world.”
Dr Wang added that her research in AI and Biomedical data analysis at XJTLU is fundamentally shaped by the School of Science and XJTLU’s international setting and collaborative ecosystem, which integrates expertise from diverse disciplines. This synergy supports the development of AI models that are biologically grounded and clinically actionable, enabling her team to address globally relevant health challenges informed by real clinical needs and diverse patient data sources.
Moving forward, Dr Wang aims to further advance the application of AI within the biomedical field and clinical context. Her upcoming research work focuses on developing robust and interpretable AI models capable of extracting insights from complex multi-omics and imaging data to support early diagnosis and personalised treatment planning.
