On the 20th January, the Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME), a United Nations Global Compact initiative, announced its cohort of Champion Schools for the 2026-2027 cycle. International Business School Suzhou (IBSS) at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) is proud to confirm its continued membership of this prestigious leadership group, marking its third consecutive selection following previous terms in 2023, 2024, and 2025.

This renewed invitation recognises IBSS’s sustained and impactful commitment to advancing responsible management education (RME) on a global stage. Following a rigorous review process, the PRME Secretariat selects Champion Schools that demonstrate exemplary thought leadership and practical initiatives aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
As the first and only business school in mainland China to have been designated a PRME Champion, IBSS remains at the forefront of integrating sustainability into its core mission. The School drives impact through award-winning educational programmes, pioneering research from its dedicated centres, and active engagement in both local and global dialogues on sustainability challenges.
The PRME Champions programme brings together a vanguard group of business schools committed to collaborative innovation. Members work collectively to overcome common barriers in RME, developing tools and resources that create value for wider business and society.
The focus for the 2026-2027 cycle will focus on deepening engagement with the refreshed PRME principles, participating in thematic roundtables to generate solutions to institutional challenges, and contributing to the PRME Commons—a digital platform for accountability and knowledge-sharing within the community.
“As one of the earliest signatories of the PRME initiative in China, and for a long period the only PRME Champion nationally,” said Professor Eddy Fang, Dean of IBSS. “this continued recognition reflects a long-standing institutional commitment rather than a short-term outcome. It is a reminder that our work in responsible and sustainable business education is embedded in the School’s identity.”
IBSS became a PRME signatory in 2013, attained Advanced Signatory status in 2019, and was a key founding member of the PRME China Chapter in 2021. This continuation of Champion status underscores IBSS’s unwavering mission to create positive impact and sustainable development practices, both within China and internationally.
