On 6 February 2026, Leyuan Jiang, Assistant Professor from the Design School at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, paid an official visit to the Faculty of Architecture at Chulalongkorn University and delivered an academic lecture on design research and architectural education.

Advancing multi-level collaboration
The meeting with Professor Sarayut Supsook, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, and faculty representatives focused on academic profiles, research strengths, and international strategies. Both sides discussed potential areas of cooperation, including joint research initiatives, staff and student exchange programmes, recruitment pathways, and co-organised workshops, summer schools, and design studios. The delegation also toured key facilities within the Faculty.

Design research across contexts
During the guest lecture, Jiang introduced the Design School’s interdisciplinary approach to architectural education and research. Drawing on his involvement in international academic networks, he addressed research-led teaching models, the integration of digital technologies in design methodologies, and structural conditions for cross-cultural academic collaboration. Faculty members and students engaged in discussion on curriculum design, collaborative research models, and region-specific design challenges.

Expanding regional academic networks
This visit laid the groundwork for sustained collaboration between the two institutions in architecture and design. Through academic exchange and institutional dialogue, both sides established a shared basis for future cooperation in research, teaching, and talent development.
