On 28 May 2026, as a significant continuation of the 20th anniversary with High-Quality Development Conference of Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU), the HeXie Management Theory Symposium and HeXie Ambassador Programme Launch Ceremony was successfully held. Hosted by the College of Industry-Entrepreneurs (CIE) and the HeXie Management Centre (HeXie Academy) at XJTLU, the event aimed to promote the interdisciplinary dissemination and practical application of HeXie Management Theory, and to formally launch the “HeXie Ambassador” programme, establishing a long-term mechanism for collaborative innovation on campus. Faculty members, students, researchers, and partner representatives from various colleges gathered to engage in in-depth discussions on the development concepts, research achievements, and practical value of HeXie Management Theory.

At the beginning of the event, Prof. Xiaobo Xu, Executive Dean of CIE and Director of HeXie Academy at XJTLU, delivered a welcome address. Prof. Xu first expressed gratitude to the faculty and students from XJTLU, representatives of various student associations, and HeXie Eco-Partners from different enterprises and industries for their presence. He emphasised that, coinciding with the 20th anniversary of XJTLU, the College and the Centre have two major missions: first, to build the X-Eco Mall, and second, to promote the development and application of HeXie Management Theory.

Prof. Youmin Xi, Executive President of XJTLU, engaged in a profound discussion with the audience, focusing on HeXie Management Theory. Addressing key questions raised by several participants at the intersection of theory and practice, Prof. Xi fostered a strong academic atmosphere, making the discussion highly enlightening.

During the event, Dr. Yan Pan, Assistant Professor at CIE and HeXie Academy, released a teaching case based on HeXie Management Theory, which will be widely used in entrepreneurship education and business administration courses to help students understand complex system management and collaborative decision-making. Kongxin Wang, President of the HeXie Mindset Development Association (SIP Campus), presented the annual work summary, demonstrating the association’s positive achievements in promoting the HeXie mindset among students over the past year.

As a highlight of the event, Dr. Mengyue Su, Assistant Professor at CIE and HeXie Academy, officially launched the inaugural “HeXie Ambassador Programme” as a representative. This programme brings together faculty and students from various colleges who are passionate about HeXie Management Theory, becoming campus leaders in its dissemination and practice. The first cohort of HeXie Ambassadors received their appointment certificates on site. Additionally, the awarding of certificates to the student leadership and faculty advisors of the HeXie Mindset Development Association, along with the “HeXie Eco-Partner” plaque presentation ceremony, marked the transition of HeXie Management Theory from academic research to a new phase of social collaborative practice.
The “Face-to-Face Exchange with President Youmin Xi and New Book Signing” was a special highlight of the event. Prof. Xi signed and presented copies of his new book, Digital and Intelligent Transformation — Dancing with the Times, which continues the core concepts of HeXie Management Theory, inspiring deep reflection on the current era of change among the attending faculty and students.

During the “Research Spotlight on HeXie Management”, Professor Qingxiong Weng, School of Management, University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), as a special guest, and Chengcheng Li, a PhD student, shared the latest research on the application of HeXie Management Theory in organisational behaviour and educational management. Dr. Mengyue Su, Faculty Representative for the Entrepreneurial Education Module, and student Linwan Huang shared how the concept of “HeXie” influences classroom learning, project practice, and personal development from the perspectives of teaching practice and student growth. Ms. Li Lu, the invited NGO guest from the Lv Se Jiang Nan Public Environmental Concerned Centre, shared the practical application of the theory in the collaborative governance of environmental protection organisations, emphasising the real-world significance of HeXie concepts in sustainable development, social responsibility, and green practices. The event concluded with the interactive game “HeXie Blocks: Xie Principle and Balance”, where participants experienced in a relaxed manner the balance between “Xie Principle” (scientific design) and “He Principle” (emotional and value guidance) in HeXie management.

The successful holding of this event represents the ongoing exploration of the College and Centre in the integration of management theory innovation and ecological practice. With the official launch of the “HeXie Ambassador Programme”, a group of experts, scholars, and eco-partners from both on and off campus have been further gathered, providing intellectual support and ecological resource guarantees for the official online operation of the X-Eco Mall’s pilot sub-ecosystem in August this year.
