On 19 May 2026, Vivian Cui, Mainland China Business Development Manager of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA), visited International Business School Suzhou (IBSS) at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) to deliver an information session on HKICPA registration and the Qualification Programme (QP) examination.

Opening the event, Dr Ziyin Li from the Department of Accounting, introduced Cui Cui and welcomed academic staff and students. During the session, Cui Cui provided an overview of HKICPA’s background and professional standing, and highlighted the advantages of HKICPA membership, including professional recognition, career development opportunities, and opportunities to work across different regions.

The presentation covered key aspects of the Qualification Programme (QP), including the examination structure, entry requirements, exemption policies, application procedures and registration criteria. Through clear and practical guidance, Cui Cui helped students develop a better understanding of the qualification pathway, from registration through to examination and membership.
During the Q&A session, Cui Cui addressed students’ questions about exemptions, timeline planning, document preparation and registration procedures, offering practical advice and clarifying common concerns.

Notably, XJTLU accounting undergraduate students are currently eligible for exemptions from nine papers at the Associate Level of HKICPA Qualification Programme. They only need to complete the remaining Associate Level paper (M5: Information Management), pass the four Professional Level papers and successfully complete the final Capstone assessment to become eligible for HKICPA membership.
This exemption policy significantly reduces students’ examination workload, helping them progress more efficiently towards professional qualification and supporting their future career development.
The event further strengthened collaboration between IBSS and HKICPA, providing students with greater access to internationally recognised professional qualifications and broader opportunities for future career development. It also bolstered links between the University and the profession, creating new opportunities for talent development and professional engagement.
