I, Teacher: GCLH Symposium 2026 Successfully Held

On 1–2 June, the Global Cultures and Languages Hub at XJTLU, hosted I, Teacher: GCLH Symposium 2026, a two-day gathering exploring how teaching is being reimagined in an AI-enhanced educational landscape.
Across the two symposium themes, “The Human Algorithm: Craft, Charisma, and Reflection” and “The Augmented Practitioner: Code, Insight, and Creation,” lecturers shared research insights, practice showcases, innovation demos and reflective discussions on the evolving relationship between teachers, learners, technology and academic practice.
From AI-supported writing and feedback, to teacher presence, student engagement, disciplinary learning, multilingual classrooms and creative pedagogies, the symposium created a rich space for teachers at GCLH to exchange ideas, test possibilities and reflect on what remains distinctly human in teaching.
The symposium brought together a wide range of voices from across our teaching community, highlighting the value of professional judgement, creative experimentation and reflective practice in the age of AI.
As the conversations continue beyond the event, we look forward to carrying these insights into our classrooms, programmes and future collaborations across the Global Cultures and Languages Hub.
