On 31 July, the 2026 Graduation Celebration Event of the College of Industry-Entrepreneurs (CIE) and HeXie Management Centre (HeXie Academy) was held with great success. Faculty members, students, parents and alumni representatives gathered together to witness graduates from the Enterprise Governance, Innovation and Succession Pathway, Strategic Human Resources Management Pathway, and Smart Ageing and Health Management Pathway complete their studies and embark on a new chapter in their lives.
This was more than a graduation celebration event – it was a gathering about growth, legacy and new beginnings. From inspiring words from faculty to heartfelt reflections from graduates, and from the continuation of the alumni spirit to the warmth of shared memories, the event embodied the College's educational philosophy of "knowledge integration, industry connection, and shared growth".
Prof. Xiaobo Xu: Graduation Is a Starting Point, and the College Is Your Backing
At the start of the event, Prof. Xiaobo Xu, Executive Dean of the CIE and Director of HeXie Academy, XJTLU, extended warm congratulations to the 51 graduates and introduced the College's talent development model, which is grounded in HeXie Management Theory and distinguished by its industry-focused approach. In the face of the profound changes brought by the AI era, he encouraged students to embrace the opportunities of the times and continuously enhance their capabilities. He offered this message: "Graduation is not an end, but a new beginning. The College will always be your steadfast backing, and you are always welcome to come back home."
Xiaoxiang Shi: From Graduate to Service Provider, Carrying Forward the HeXie Alumni Spirit
As a pioneer graduate of the GIS pathway and now a Programme Officer at CIE and Secretary-General of the Alumni Association, Xiaoxiang Shi shared his growth journey from being a fresh graduate to becoming an alumni service professional. He affirmed that the Alumni Association will always uphold the philosophy of "Harmony, Connection, Growth, and Win-Win", and serve as a lasting "home for alumni" for every graduate.
That very day also marked Xiaoxiang Shi's last working day at the College. Soon to join the China Academy of Ordnance Talent, he received a commemorative gift and blessings from the College. Two years of dedicated collaboration turned into the most sincere thanks and good wishes at parting – a vivid testament to the College's educational outcomes and the enduring bonds of alumni friendship.
Graduate Representatives' Sharing: To the Past, and to the Future
Three graduate representatives from different pathways shared their growth stories at XJTLU and their aspirations for the future.
Yuyulou Zhang, a graduate of the Enterprise Governance, Innovation and Succession Pathway, recalled that in the GIS field, "every set of data tells the story of a real place." She was deeply moved by Prof. Xi's reference to the "HeXie Mindset" – in the AI era, asking the right questions matters more than having the answers. She encouraged her peers to "use the values learned here to build something meaningful" – whether a company, a research project, or a purposeful life.
Jiaqi Hui, from the Strategic Human Resources Management Pathway, expressed gratitude to the College and her parents for their support, acknowledging that her master's studies had deepened her awareness of the world's complexity and the uncertainty of the future. Quoting The Odyssey, she likened graduation to the starting point of her own epic journey, and shared her supervisor Dr. Bo Fang's encouragement: "Never lower your recognition of your own worth, and never doubt your value." She offered this message to her fellow graduates: "Have the courage to make decisions, and also the courage to accept failure."
Jinwen Zhou, from the Smart Ageing and Health Management Pathway, summarised her greatest takeaway from XJTLU as: "Critical thinking is not just a skill, but a mindset – and even a form of courage." Facing projects with "no standard answers," she moved from confusion to deep engagement, ultimately coming to understand the real pain points. She thanked her professors for their companionship and respect, as well as her interdisciplinary team for the stimulating exchange of ideas, which gave her the courage to keep facing the future.
Interactive Games: Celebrating Youth with Laughter
Alongside the formal proceedings, the event also featured carefully designed interactive games, adding a light-hearted and joyful atmosphere to the graduation ceremony. Winning students received copies of Prof. Youmin Xi's publications and XJTLU-exclusive souvenirs, leaving them with an unforgettable and cherished memory of their graduation season.
With the HeXie Mindset, Venture to Vast Horizons
Amidst applause, laughter and good wishes, the 2026 graduation celebration of the College of Industry-Entrepreneurs and HeXie Management Centre drew to a successful close. May every graduate carry forward the HeXie Mindset and the spirit of industry-entrepreneurship as they bravely step into the wider world, and write their own brilliant chapters on the road ahead.
