HSS Celebrates the Graduation of the Class of 2026

The School of Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS) celebrated the graduation of the Class of 2026, marking a significant milestone as students completed their undergraduate journey and prepared to begin new chapters.

The celebration was hosted by Dr Qingyang Sun, HSS Alumni Officer, and opened with remarks from Dr Emily Williams, Head of the Department of China Studies. Dr Williams extended her congratulations to all graduates and reflected on their growth and achievements during their time at XJTLU. She highlighted that an HSS education equips students not only with disciplinary knowledge, but also with transferable skills, including critical thinking, communication, problem-solving, creativity, and the ability to approach complex issues from multiple perspectives.

Reflecting on the journey ahead, Dr Yanning Huang from the Department of Media and Communication encouraged graduates to remain open-minded, curious, and committed to lifelong learning. He reminded students that the ability to continue learning, adapt to change, and engage with the world around them will remain valuable strengths as they pursue further studies, professional careers, and new life experiences.

The reception also recognised outstanding student achievements through the presentation of awards, including Best Final Year Project Awards and Outstanding Academic Performance Awards across HSS programmes. These awards acknowledged students’ dedication, academic excellence, and commitment to intellectual exploration throughout their studies.

Student representatives Chenfei Wu, Yiyan Pu, Yuxuan Huang from different programmes shared their reflections on their university experiences, expressing gratitude to faculty members, families, and friends for their support. They also reflected on how their studies at HSS had broadened their perspectives, nurtured their curiosity, and prepared them for future opportunities.

Following the event, Dr Qingyang Sun, HSS Alumni Officer, invited graduates to actively participate in future alumni activities and continue to stay connected with the School, contributing to the development of the HSS alumni community. Yang Hui, President of the HSS Alumni Association, also extended her best wishes to the Class of 2026 and expressed her hope to meet and engage with more graduates in the future.

The celebration concluded with warm congratulations to the Class of 2026. As a special farewell gesture, Dr Yanning Huang performed the Chinese song “Farewell” (送别), bringing the event to a memorable close.

HSS looks forward to staying connected with its graduates and celebrating their achievements as they continue their journeys beyond XJTLU.
