Seven students from the Academy of Film and Creative Technology (AFCT) at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) have successfully completed the AVID Pro Tools Fundamentals I (PT101) and Fundamentals II (PT110) international certification examinations, earning the globally recognised AVID Certified | Pro Tools Specialist qualification.

The seven students are Xirui Cheng, Jianing Chen, Alexander Yong-Er Yu, Yichen Qian, Liyang Cao, Ruoying Liu and Yunlu Lai. All seven achieved a 100% pass rate on their first attempt at both certification examinations, reflecting their commitment to developing professional sound production skills and their ability to meet industry standards.

Pro Tools is widely used across the music, film, television and audio post-production industries for professional recording, editing and mixing. The PT101 and PT110 certifications demonstrate proficiency in essential workflows, from session management and audio editing to more advanced production techniques. These internationally recognised credentials provide students with an additional qualification to support their academic development and future career opportunities.

The certification training was delivered by Dane Taylor, Lecturer in Sound at AFCT, who holds AVID Certified | Pro Tools Instructor and Specialist qualifications. Drawing on more than 17 years of professional experience as an award-winning recording and mixing engineer, Taylor combines industry practice with practical, hands-on teaching to prepare students for the technical demands of professional audio production.

Reflecting on the students’ achievement, Taylor said: “It’s really inspiring to see my students commit to this professional training alongside their university studies and achieve such strong results. The Pro Tools certification gives them the opportunity to demonstrate their technical skills against internationally recognised standards, while developing the practical knowledge they can apply to their creative projects and future careers.”

AFCT congratulates all seven students on their achievement. Their success highlights the value of connecting academic learning with professional practice and reinforces the Academy’s commitment to providing students with opportunities to develop industry-relevant skills and qualifications through its ongoing engagement with AVID.
