Dr. Qinghua Liu earned his PhD degree in Biology in 1996 from University of Memphis, USA. He was a visiting professor at Sun Yat-sen University from 2011 to 2014 and a visiting research fellow at Nanjing Institute of Soil Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences from 2008-2014.
Before returning to China in 2010, he was an Associate Research Fellow at University of Memphis, developing reproduction system for southern flounder and yellow perch as well as fresh water aquaculture technology for flounder. He also worked for United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Catfish Genetics Research Unit developing fish larval feeding strategy and identifying sex-linkage genes for channel catfish.
He has accomplished a lot of things since he returned to China, including founding Suzhou Fish Seeds Bio-tech in 2010, establishing recirculating Eco-system for natural spawning of American shad; developing the first industry Chain from breeding to aquaculture for shad in China; making neo-males for all female production of American shad; conceiving and coordinating a research on chromosomal-level genome assembly of American shad; conceiving studies on evaluation of off-flavor and quality of agricultural products with an electrochemical approach; conceiving studies on oxidative stress, intestinal microbiota and environmental microbiota in pond culture of American shad.
