Associate Dean for Learning and Teaching

Nimesh Salike currently serves as the Associate Dean for Learning and Teaching at the International Business School Suzhou (IBSS) while holding the position of Senior Associate Professor of Economics, specializing in International and Development Economics. His research spans various aspects of international trade, foreign direct investment, and exchange rate mechanisms, with focus also on innovation, migration, and sustainable development. His work has been featured in esteemed journals such as the Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization, China Economic Review, Journal of Financial Intermediation, and Journal of Asian Economics. Salike has led several research projects exploring topics such as economic integration, production networks, economic complexity, sophistication of exports, and innovation networks.

In addition to his research pursuits, Salike has extensive teaching experience in Economics and Finance across undergraduate, postgraduate, MBA, and executive education to various business establishments. He is invited to speak on contemporary economic issues and participates in interview programs. Salike is also a founding director of the Society for the Advancement in Economic Studies (SAES) and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) in the UK. Previously, he held positions as Head of Economics (2014-2017) and member of the Research Funding Committee (2017-2020) at the university.

Before his current role, Salike served as a Research Associate at the Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI) in Tokyo, Japan, from 2009 to 2011, where he contributed significantly to projects addressing the global financial crisis (GFC). He has also worked as an adjunct lecturer at Sophia University and International Christian University in Tokyo and as a consultant for the World Bank office in Kathmandu in 1999. Salike obtained his PhD and MA degrees from Waseda University, Tokyo. Additionally, he holds an MBA in Finance from Kathmandu University, Nepal, and has participated in an exchange program at Brandeis University in the US.
