Hefei “Faye” Wang is a Professor of Finance at the International Business School Suzhou (IBSS) at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, where she currently serves as the Associate Dean of Academic Engagement (ADAE). In her role as the ADAE, Faye has played a key role in bridging the gap between academia and industry, forging strong connections with academic institutions both in China and internationally. This effort supports IBSS’s ongoing mission to create a synergy between theoretical knowledge and practical application. She also oversees the development of the state-of-the-art IBSS trading floor and is currently working on integrating advanced financial technologies into the curriculum.
Faye completed her PhD in Finance at Stanford Graduate School of Business, where she also obtained a Master’s in Statistics. Her academic journey began at Peking University and continued at Wellesley College, where she graduated summa cum laude, majoring in Mathematics and Computer Science. Her research spans theoretical corporate finance, dynamic asset allocation, and more recently, the intersection of finance and technology, focusing particularly on the impact of big data on financial markets and decision-making. Her scholarly work has been supported by numerous prestigious grants, including the National Science Foundation of China Key Program and Youth Program, and the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) research grant. These accolades highlight her contribution to the field of finance through rigorous research and innovative approaches.
Her contributions to academia have been recognised with multiple awards, including the Jinji Lake Leading Talent Award and the Suzhou Industrial Park Excellent Educator Award, underscoring her significant impact as a scholar and educator.
