When you graduate from the BA Accounting programme, you will have developed:
- a firm understanding of the key professional knowledge required for effective financial accounting, management accounting, financial management, data analytics, auditing, and taxation. Through a combination of lectures, seminars, workshops, tutorials, computer labs, and selected optional modules, you will acquire knowledge, techniques and skills highly sought after by employers;
- the ability to apply accounting and finance-related knowledge and analytical skill sets in organisational contexts involving the management of day-to-day operations, cost control, business problem solving, risk assessment and control, strategy formulation, and strategic decision making; and
- have the opportunity to put your knowledge into practice by completing in-depth, independent case studies. This will give you the chance to develop essential employability skills in research, critical thinking, time management, communications, and IT;

UK degrees are three years long whereas in China they are four, therefore we do accept students with certain qualifications directly into Year Two, which is the start of the main academic programme. Most students, however, enter into Year One, which provides you with a range of interesting modules, language classes and core skills for your degree.

Skilled and agile graduates are in high demand in the current job market. Therefore, we embed a series of core and specific skills into our BA Accounting programme to ensure that our graduates are suited to careers in areas such as accounting, investment banking, investment analysis and management, management consultancy and financial management, public service, or more advanced academic study. Graduates from our BA Accounting programme will acquire the skillsets employers in modern businesses require. These generally include academic and cognitive skills, research, communication, data analysis, and soft skills. There is also the opportunity to take advantage of the school’s employability development and university career services, which focus on supporting the development of employability skills among our students.

The BA Accounting programme provides you with a solid and relevant understanding of the principles, techniques and applications of accounting and finance in a practical context. You will gain the skills, expertise and analytical competence necessary for a career in accountancy, whether in industry or the public sector.
At XJTLU, accounting is far more than just cutting costs and managing transactions. Accounting is crucial for accountability as it encourages sound and ethical decision-making to positively impact businesses and society.
This programme offers you a distinct combination of research-informed and professionally accredited knowledge, techniques, and skills. You will develop a firm understanding of the financial drivers that underpin leadership, planning, strategy, governance, and ethics. You will also learn how accountants work with managers, shareholders and a wide variety of stakeholders, helping them to make informed decisions. Taking advantage of XJTLU’s unique learning environment, you will also learn and develop an appreciation of accounting practices in both the UK and China contexts.
Our accounting programme offers you the opportunity to gain exemptions from the accounting and management accounting professional bodies. Graduates can claim up to nine exemptions from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), eight exemptions from the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), eight exemptions from the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), and six exemptions from the Certified Practising Accountants Australia (CPA Australia) dependent on satisfactory completion of certain modules.
