Call for Papers Extension Notice

In response to the request from faculty and students for more time to refine their papers during the busy new semester, the organising committee of the TFSC Paper Development Workshop (Suzhou, China) has decided to extend the submission deadline to 24:00 on 15 April, 2026 (with acceptance notifications to be sent on 25 April, 2026). Workshop Information

International Business School Suzhou (IBSS) at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) will host a Paper Development Workshop (PDW) for Technological Forecasting and Social Change (ABS 3, CAS Q1 Top) on May 29, 2026. The event will feature the journal’s Editor-in-Chief and Associate Editors, who will provide high-quality, constructive feedback to help authors refine their work. Coinciding with the 20th anniversary of XJTLU, this PDW also serves as an academic celebration, jointly presented by IBSS and a leading international journal.

The workshop aims to help scholars refine their research ideas and manuscripts, supporting their submissions to Technological Forecasting and Social Change (TFSC). In alignment with the journal’s mission, the workshop welcomes submissions that explore the theme of “technology and its social impacts,” across different levels of analysis and various empirical research methods. The workshop will combine keynote sessions with parallel presentation sessions.

Keynote Speakers

Professor Luca Mora, Editor-in-Chief, TFSC / Professor of Urban Innovation, Edinburgh Napier University, UK

Luca Mora is a Professor of Innovation Management at the Business School of Edinburgh Napier University, UK, and at Tallinn University of Technology, Estonia. With over 10 years of experience in multidisciplinary research at the intersection of innovation management, public administration scholarship, science and technology studies, and urban studies, Professor Mora is best known for his scholarly work on smart city governance and urban innovation. His research has been widely published in leading international journals and has served as an academic consultant for several intergovernmental organizations, including the United Nations. In addition to his research and consulting roles, Professor Mora is Co-Editor-in-Chief of Technological Forecasting and Social Change. He is also featured in Elsevier-Stanford’s Top 2% Scientists list and is ranked by Scholar GPS among the world’s top scholars in smart city research.

Professor Li Tang, Associate Editor, TFSC / Professor of Public Policy, Fudan University, China

Li Tang is a Professor in the Department of Public Administration at the School of International Relations and Public Affairs, Fudan University, China. She holds a Ph.D. in Public Policy from the Georgia Institute of Technology, USA. Her research focuses on public policy analysis and science, technology, and innovation policy. Her current research interests include responsible research and innovation, global technology governance, research evaluation, and international collaboration and talent flow. Professor Li Tang has led major and priority projects funded by the National Social Science Fund of China, the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and the Ministry of Education's Humanities and Social Sciences project. Her research has been published in leading international and domestic journals such as Science, Nature, Public Policy and Administration, Science and Public Policy, and Journal of Public Administration.

Georgina Jiang

Publisher, Technology Management & Innovation, Elsevier

Georgina Jiang is a Publisher at Elsevier, responsible for a portfolio of high quality academic journals in the fields of technology management, innovation and entrepreneurship, and strategy. She has extensive experience in launching new journals, training editors and editorial board members, organizing conferences and webinars, and leading strategic planning initiatives.

Prior to joining Elsevier in 2020, Georgina spent three years at Springer Nature’s Nature Publishing Group, where she worked as a Senior Editorial Assistant. During this time, she contributed to multiple projects focused on optimizing editorial workflows, gaining solid hands on experience and a deep understanding of scholarly publishing processes.

 

Call for papers

This workshop will be exclusively open to researchers (including PhD students) working at universities or research institutes in China and Chinese researchers working or studying in overseas institutes.

Papers of up to 10 pages are required for submission in English and should include the following sections: title,  abstract,  introduction, methodology, results, and discussion. Please submit your paper via the following submission linkhttps://xjtlu.mike-x.com/GkvLU.

All submissions will be reviewed by the organizing team, and authors will be notified of the decision shortly after the submission deadline. Please note that all papers presented at the workshop and subsequently submitted to TFSC for consideration must adhere to the journal's policies and undergo the standard peer review process.

 

Registration and Travel & Accommodation

Registration

Authors whose submissions are accepted will be invited to register for the PDW. A limited number of additional places will also be available for scholars or PhD students who are not presenting papers but wish to attend the workshop. The registration fee is 1000 CNY per participant and will be used solely by Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University to cover the workshop costs, including the venue, meals, and coffee breaks. Elsevier will not be responsible for any financial aspects of the event. Details regarding registration and payment will be shared with selected participants, and the registration fee is non-refundable.
