Staff and students from the Department of Urban Planning and Design at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University welcomed guests from the University of Seoul, South Korea.

Dr Chung Ho Kim, teaching assistant Nammi Kim, and 14 students visited Suzhou and exchanged ideas with Year Four XJTLU students on improving the urban environment in Suzhou Industrial Park.

Dr Chung Ho Kim and Dr Paola Pellegrini co-organised the international joint studio during the semester, which led to this site visit and joint student presentations of their draft design proposals.

The Korean guests and XJTLU students compared and discussed the proposals with the help of XJTLU staff members Professor Yiwen Wang, Professor Chris Nolf, and Florence Vannoorbeeck.

The Department of Urban Planning and Design at XJTLU and University of Seoul agreed to hold joint design studios, field trips, and research activities in the future, starting with a visit by XJTLU students to Seoul in March 2019.
