On June 21, 2024, Professor Li Yang, Associate Dean for Research and Impact at the School of Science, Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, attended the first conference of the Suzhou Innovation Combination of Safety Authentication of Traction Battery Recycling, held at the Tsinghua Automotive Industrial Park on Lianyang Road, Wujiang District, Suzhou. During the conference, Professor Yang participated in several technical sharing sessions and company visits and engaged in in-depth discussions with experts from various industries.
The conference covered several aspects including a report on the innovation combination’s application status, technical sharing sessions, and company visits. The conference was led by Chief Scientist, Professor Youfa Zhang, a PhD supervisor from the School of Materials Science at Southeast University, with participation from Lun Hua, an associate researcher at the Research Institute of Transportation, Energy, and Environmental Protection at the Suzhou Automotive Research Institute, Tsinghua University, along with several other research members.
During the technical sharing session, Jieyuan Wei from Huaye Testing, Jing Liu from Shanghai Institute of Space Power, and Lun Hua from Suzhou Automotive Research Institute, Tsinghua University conducted special reports, covering the latest technologies and research results in the recycling and reuse of traction batteries.
During the company visit, Professor Li Yang, along with the attending representatives, visited the Suzhou Automotive Research Institute, Tsinghua University, and Huaye Testing Technology Service Co., Ltd. They gained a detailed understanding of the practical applications and technological innovations in the recycling and reuse of traction batteries and engaged in in-depth discussions with the company's technical staff, laying a solid foundation for future university-enterprise cooperation.
The establishment of the Suzhou Innovation Combination of Safety Authentication of Traction Battery Recycling is an important initiative in response to China’s "carbon peak" and "carbon neutrality" strategies. This innovation combination, formed by multiple research institutions, enterprises, and government departments, aims to promote technological research and application in the recycling and reuse of traction batteries, providing strong support for achieving a green circular economy.
Professor Yang shared that the successful hosting of this conference marks a solid step forward in the establishment of the Suzhou Innovation Combination of Safety Authentication of Traction Battery Recycling. In the future, all parties will continue to work closely together to tackle technical challenges and promote the high-quality development of the new energy industry. The School of Science and Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University will continue to uphold the spirit of open cooperation, dedicated to addressing key technical issues in the new energy industry, and will strive tirelessly to achieve sustainable development goals.
