The IoT Day Event Review
On September 18th, School of Internet of Things hosted the IoT Day event at the SIP Campus. On this day, we collectively witnessed the students' boundless curiosity and enthusiasm for the world of the Internet of Things (IoT).
Part 1 Registration and Demonstration
In the booth area on the G floor of the Foundation Building, posters of student research projects were displayed, along with the robots used in these projects. Faculty members from School of Internet of Things were also present at the booths to answer students' questions. Every student who stopped by found the endless possibilities of IoT in these projects.
Part 2 Evening Main Event
As night fell, the enthusiasm for exploration did not wane. The evening main event, which began at 7 pm, was like a feast of knowledge and inspiration, attracting the enthusiastic participation of students.
At the start, Dr Matilda Isaac, the Dean of School of Internet of Things delivered a speech to welcome all the students and introduced the guests as well as the purpose of the event.
Subsequently, Dr Bintao Hu, the Programme Director, presided over and briefly introduced the event process, officially kicking off the sharing session.
Dr Tong Wu from the Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Hub (EEH), introduced the concept and model of Syntegrative Education at the Taicang campus, stimulating students' thoughts on educational innovation.
Dr Viren Aul and Dr Christopher Williams from EEH also provided valuable advice on future career choices, offering new perspectives for students' career planning.
Dr Binghong Liu, the Eco-Development Manager of Advantech, one of the industrial partners of School of IoT, introduced the applications and technologies of IoT in different industrial scenarios in a clear and concise manner, painting a broad prospect for the industrial application of AIoT for the students. She also encouraged students to actively participate in internships to discover and solve problems in practice.
Then, two outstanding Year 4 students from School of IoT, Hanxiao Su and Yuyang Ma, shared their research experience, inspiring their juniors to continue advancing on the path of IoT engineering.
Part 3 IoT Quiz Competition
At the end of the event, Dr Shuangyao Huang led the students in a quiz competition with 20 interesting IoT interactive questions, allowing students to learn the basic knowledge of IoT and gain endless joy.
After the quiz, Dean awarded the prizes to the winning students, which was the best affirmation of their wisdom and effort.
After the event, lots of students actively exchanged learning experiences with their seniors.
Summary
Through this whole day of in-depth experience, students gained a deeper understanding of the concepts and applications of IoT, laying a solid foundation for their future professional choices.
The School of Internet of Things will continue to hold more events to provide a stage for students to showcase and learn about IoT knowledge. In this field full of opportunities and challenges, we believe that students will show even more dazzling innovation and wisdom!
